Classroom use policy for Plant Sciences

Classroom space on the MU campus is very limited. In the Division of Plant Sciences, dedicated classroom space currently includes: Rooms 28, 39, 3-22H, and 3-24 in the Agriculture Building; Room 40 Mumford Hall; Room 205 Curtis Hall; and Room 200 Waters Hall. The following principles should guide classroom use assignments:

  1. The highest priority use for classroom space will be for instruction of undergraduate and graduate level lecture and laboratory courses taught by faculty affiliated with the Division of Plant Sciences (DPS).
  2. Classroom use requests by DPS faculty for activities other than teaching of courses [e.g. regular lab meetings, special seminars (not part of scheduled seminar courses), etc.] and requests for course instruction from faculty outside the DPS will be considered after classroom needs for Plant Sciences courses has been determined.
  3. Permission granted for classroom instruction use by faculty outside Plant Sciences will be given with the understanding that the use is temporary and any future use will be subject to DPS space needs and priorities.
  4. Requests for assignment of classroom space can be made directly to the DPS Executive Assistant.
  5. Prior to classroom space assignment, the DPS Executive Assistant will consult with the Director for Undergraduate Programs to ensure that the request is justifiable and that the requested use will not compromise the integrity of the equipment and furniture in the space.
  6. Within a specific classroom, usage will not begin or end within 10 minutes of the next scheduled use in order to provide adequate time for setup and preparation for the next class.
